Cemetery
The City of Belle Fourche is responsible for the operation and maintenance of Pine Slope Cemetery, St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery, and Riverside Cemetery.
Burial Schedule Requirements:
- Summer Hours = April 1st through November 30th = Two (2) business day notice
- Winter Hours = December 1st through March 31st = Four (4) business day notice
- Columbarium Cremation Placements = Two (2) business day notice
Graveside Services Notice:
The City of Belle Fourche is requiring all attendees of graveside services to leave the immediate area (gravesite) within fifteen (15) minutes of the conclusion of a graveside service. Attendees are welcome and encouraged to return to the grave after two (2) hours for continued visitation. We are requiring this for the following reasons:
- So that our cemetery crews can complete the closing of the grave in a timely manner – especially when we have multiple opening/closings in a single day – without having to ensure attendees are not too close to the work being done in order to ensure the safety of both attendees and our crews.
- Our crews use tools and machinery that may cause distress to those, especially children, who may not understand what occurs during the closing of a grave.
Burial Structures:
The Burial Structure Application is exclusively for mausoleum, vaults, and other burial structures that have the capability and capacity to hold human remains. These structures are allowed in the Belle Fourche cemeteries (Pine Slope, Riverside, and St. Paul's) upon approval of City Council in accordance with City Ordinance 2.48.170 - I. The application can be found at the bottom of this page or at the Engineering Department on the second floor of City Hall.
- Families must complete the Burial Structure Application and submit said application to the Engineering Administrative Assistant. Once the City Council approves the application, the family orders the structure through a monument company.
- This application is separate from the monument permit.

The City of Belle Fourche handles payments regarding Perpetual Care Certificates and the appropriate filing fees for St. Paul's Cemetery graves.
The City of Belle Fourche cannot schedule grave opening/closings on Sundays or holidays.
