Position Objectives:
Under general supervision of the Pool Manager, ensure swimmers’ safety in the pool area and administer first aid or lifesaving techniques when needed.
Red Cross Lifeguard Certification preferred but not required. Will train and certify.
Duties and Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as appropriate to this job description.
- Ensure that the rules and regulation of the swimming pool are followed to maintain a safe swimming environment.
- Administer first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and uses automated external defibrillator (AED) when needed.
- Contact emergency medical personnel when a serious injury occurs with assistance of other lifeguards.
- Monitor water conditions and guest behavior.
- Perform primary cleaning and maintenance for pool and surrounding area.
- Assist with daily pool operations including record-keeping
- Support activities in and around the pool
- Work and communicate professionally with the public, program participants, staff, school officials, community groups, partner organizations and family members/caretakers
- Completes accurate and detailed reports on attendance, maintenance, accidents, incidents, and ejection.
- Carefully takes and records pool readings at the required times.
- Must have ability to work a flexible schedule that may include days, evenings, and weekends with a flexible schedule.
- Perform other duties as appropriate to this job description.
- Attend meetings, trainings, seminars, etc., as necessary to enhance job knowledge and skills
Water Safety Instructor:
- Document attendance, complete report cards, and other paperwork in regard to swimming lessons.
- Teaches swimming lessons, including water safety, swimming strokes, and provide water activity direction.
